Contract Between DISH Network and Antenna Group Renewed

DISH Network finally settles argument with LIN Media

Popular satellite TV service provider DISH Network and private broadcaster LIN Media have finally settled the weeklong dispute among themselves. The two have agreed on a fresh retransmission-pay structure. This mutual settlement finally put a stop on the seven-day shutdown of the local TV stations of LIN Media in 17 American markets on DISH Network. However, the stipulation of the agreement that was signed between the two was not revealed.

DISH Network is among the leading satellite TV service providers of America. On the other hand LIN Media runs local online portals and 32 network-linked TV stations in prime markets on DISH. The dispute that led to the 7-day blackout was regarding the charges paid by DISH to LIN Media to transmit the broadcasting signals from its TV stations to the DISH Network customers. DISH blamed LIN Media of increasing the existing charges profusely. LIN countered DISH’s allegations stating that it was charging a price that seemed right for their TV stations.

LIN Media’s local stations vanished from DISH Network’s transmissions from March 5 and each side started blaming each other for the shutdown. Ultimately they entered into a mutual agreement on March 13 that led to the reinstatement of the stations back on DISH Network’s transmissions.

Vincent Sadusky, LIN Media’s president and CEO said, “We are pleased that our negotiations with DISH Network resulted in a fair resolution and a new retransmission consent agreement.”

In a recent announcement DISH announced publicly about its new agreement with LIN Media and expressed its apology for the non transmission of the local TV channels in 17 American markets. DISH also thanked its subscribers for keeping their cool during the time! DISH Network, in its statement, announced, “DISH Network is pleased to have reached a deal with LIN Media that restored local TV channels to customers in 17 markets. We sincerely appreciate the patience our customers have shown during this time. We will continue to work hard to offer more choices and the lowest everyday prices in the industry.”
