The Story of “Outsourced” revolves around a catalog-based company known as Mid America Novelties. The company markets American novelty goods like whoopee cushions, foam fingers as well as wallets made of bacon. This company has all of a sudden outsourced its call center to India.
Todd Dempsy (Ben Rappaport) has recently completed the manager training program of Mid America Novelties. After that he comes to know that he has to shift to India to become the manager in the call center. As Todd has never ventured out of the country he was not ready for a cultural shock. So when Todd meets his staff he quickly understands that they need at least a crash course in American culture to understand the US products and to boost the sales from the other half of the globe.
The sales team under Todd includes Gupta (Parvesh Cheena) who is a socially awkward employee; Manmeet (Sacha Dhawan), who is a romantic youth in love with America; Asha (Rebecca Hazlewood) who is a smart, amazing woman who thinks that she is intrigued by Todd; Rajiv (Rizwan Manji) who is the assistant manager of the call center and he covets Todd’s job; and Madhuri (Anisha Nagarajan) – a girl who suffers from acute shyness. Getting to know his sales team, Todd soon understands that the cultural understanding is not going to be a one way road! The team needs to learn about the United States and on the other hand, he too should give much effort to understand the traditions and the culture of India.
Todd also comes across, other transplants working in the office building. There is an American expatriate, Charlie Davies (Diedrich Bader), who operates an All-American Hunter call center, and Tonya (Pippa Black), a beautiful Australian who operates the Koala Air call center. This satellite TV series is sure to give you an idea about the cultural conflict among the employees of a company that has outsourced its work to other part of the globe.
